Essentially One!

Essentially One: Striving For The Unity God Loves Jonathan Lamb is a familiar face to many of us at Myton Church. For many years he has been a regular speaker in our morning services and some of us will have come across him through his work with the Keswick Convention or with students.   Yesterday saw the launch of Jonathan's latest book. In it he explores the unity amongst his people that was on Christ's heart even as he headed to the cross. He describes it as a book that 'seeks to call God’s people to ‘make every effort to maintain the unity of the Spirit’. It introduces the vision and purpose of unity in the scriptures, and then tackles some of the practical challenges which local churches face in areas such as handling differences, managing conflict and division, strengthening partnerships, building a united fellowship and much else'.     But perhaps you want to hear him explain it. Jonathan give us a taste of what he writes about in this video launc...

Getting teens (and those who still think they are a teenager!) into a Gospel

Image
A couple of weeks ago Andrew Morgan and Paul McKie began a conversation with the church about the impact that lockdown was having on our walk with the Lord Jesus. Amongst the 'helpful hints' that were feedback mention was made of guides that help us get into the Bible, breaking it into readable sections, making comment on meaning, guiding us towards application.  What's true for the spiritual life of us adults is equally applicable to our children and youth. So... Here's a new resource produced by 10ofthose, (we plugged their book bundles for kids back in March).  Dig Into Matthew invites teenagers to get to know Jesus better as they are guided through Matthew's gospel. In 50 undated devotions, they can jump right into the heart of the gospel with these accessible, rich and thought-provoking notes. With the help of notes, illustrations and doodles get to grips with Matthew's account of Jesus life. Have a inside the book and check out the introdu...

At Home with Timon Hynes

Image
Timon Hynes expected to spending the summer term working alongside the students on Warwick University Campus. Instead he his living in the west country. Read what life looks like for him. Timon Hynes 1. Introduce yourself Hi Timon, and I attended Myton Church during my time at Warwick University, and for this year while working at the Uni as a Relay worker - working with the Christian Union and UCCF. 2. What impact has the current lockdown had on you?    Lock down has meant the shutdown of the university, and so my work has changed in a lot of ways! I have moved back to my home town in Barnstaple, Devon, as all of my work is now done online. Which is very strange to be living back with my parents and brother all in the same house again. 3. What does your ‘normal’ day look like?  As I imagine for a lot of you, my normal day consists of a lot of zoom calls! Talking with/supporting students, planning evangelistic ideas with the CU, and re...

'Church at Home' on May 24th

Image
Horror - lockdown brain has hit! I (Jackie) realise I forgot to post the pictures that gave a taste of 'Church at Home' on May 24th. For those who are confused by the number of animals (including a chicken), toys or outfits that can be seen - that was part of the challenge.  Here's a few faces to enjoy from May 24th.
