Andy tells us about Foodbanks.

In those moments we were all bored by another round of 'Brexit' headers who would have guessed that the Spring would see them replaced with headlines about panic buying and stockpiling, the pictures of empty shelves and queues outside supermarkets, the search for the elusive loo rolls and packets of pasta. Thankfully these things seemed to have passed but it certainly revealed what most of the population take for granted. Who knows, perhaps as a result we will all re-calibrate a little on what are essential items and what it is to do without for the sake of others.

Sadly, for some in our society the prospect of empty cupboards and the anxiety about how to buy food is not the new 'normal' but very much part of life, ask the Trussell Trust who gave out 1.6million food parcels to people in the year ending March 2019.

So how is the current crisis impacting Foodbanks. Myton Church member, Andy Scott works for the Trussell Trust in Coventry. He shares his reflections...

Firstly Andy explains what impact the Foodbanks are already experiencing from the 'coronavirus' crisis and what they are predicting will occur in the coming weeks.

Next, Andy explains how this is impacting his role and in the midst of it all shares specific concerns and encouragements plus some items for prayer.

The Foodbank at the Westbury Centre continues to open for limited hours each Friday. Pray for it and the other local Foodbanks.
